About AnaMaria Huibers
Marriage and Family Therapist
I believe that what we carry didn't begin with us. The anxiety that wakes you at 3 am, the relationships that keep fracturing in familiar ways, the sense of never quite belonging - these often have roots that reach back long before your own birth. Trauma passed down through generations, cultural expectations, family wounds never named - all
of it lives in us, quietly shaping how we move through the world. Trauma-informed care is at the foundation of everything I do.
I work with teens and young adults finding their footing, women standing at the threshold of their next chapter, mothers navigating
the evolving relationship with their adult children, and Latinas carrying the complexity of bicultural life. Each of these journeys is unique - and each desrves care that honors the whole person.
As a woman, mother, wife, sister and daughter, I have lived these seasons myself. I know what it means to wrestle with identity, carry your family's hopes, and do your own deep work of becoming - not just as a therapist, but as a human being who is learning and growing. That lived experience, alongside over 25 years of clinical practice, is what I bring to every session.

Away from my work, I am grounded by the things that nurture me - meditation and Buddhist philosophy, the rhythm of Afro-Latino music and dance, hosting dinners for those I love, losing myself in a good piece of historical fiction and talking long walks with my favorite girl - my dog Lily. These aren't just hobbies - they are how I try, imperfectly and sincerely, to live the same things I invite my clients into: presence, connection and the grace of being fully alive.
I have found my calling. It found me too. And I honor that every time I step into this work.
Hello there! I'm AnaMaria - bicultural, bilingual; and a Latina raised in the heart of San Francisco. For over 25 years I have had the privilege of bearing witness to some of the most courageous work a person can do.

The meaning behind Aliento.
In Spanish Aliento means “Breath" and it also carries the meaning of "Encouragement and Support" - the kind we offer one another in moments of struggle, connection and healing.
I named my practice Aliento to reflect my commitment to fostering a space where you can breathe deeply, feel encouraged, and find the support you need to heal and grow.
